Gladys Mwajuma
Meet another student at DePaul Woodworking
Gladys Mwajuma, 28, is the fourth of eight children. Her father is a small-scale farmer, and her mother is a housewife. Following her parents' separation, Gladys began working to support her younger siblings. At 13, she moved to Nairobi to work as a house help, a job she lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June 2023, Gladys joined DePaul after being introduced to Brother Jim. She is thriving in her classes and practical work. As a mother of one, Gladys is excited about the skills and experience she will gain from DePaul Woodworking. It will set her on a path of stability and a hopeful future.

Erick Ambani
Meet another student at DePaul Woodworking
Erick Ambani, 29, is from Kakamega County. Orphaned at seven months old and raised by his grandmother, Erick faced many hardships and did not receive a basic education. He used to collect and sell firewood to buy food for himself and his grandmother and often begged for food on the streets, where he experienced violence and suffering.
He was later referred to DePaul Woodworking in Nairobi, where his life began to change. He is excelling in carpentry. Erick is committed to his training and eager to gain the skills necessary to support his life and that of his grandmother.
